GABRIELE SEDDA Marble Urban Point (WOP) The Broadway Street Crossings Photographs Collages and Graphics Info Landscape Info Documentation MARBLE URBAN POINT (2012-PRESENT) The project Marble Urban Point (WOP-Working On Pavements), consists of a series of public interventions on a few selected urban areas supposed to be realized in the US. Curbs, limited portions of sidewalks, parts of streets pavements, Jersey barriers, stones in stone walls along the streets, will be replaced with white Italian marble pieces. Properly cut and shaped, the marble will be inserted into the structure. The form and the function of the marble piece will be exactly the same of the original one. Beyond the replacement process, the combination of different materials has a central role in this work and covers an aesthetical and a critical function at the same time. The selected sites, won’t be chosen randomly but according some very basic criteria: - the intervention (not a non authorized action), will be allowed by the local municipality - safety - the selection of the venue where to make the intervention will happen according to the surrounding urban and social landscape. 27 minutes in L.A.’s S.R.
